DIMension 3 DIM
Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a natural compound derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol, which is found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower.
- Estrogen Metabolism: One of the main benefits of DIM is its ability to promote a healthier metabolism of estrogen. The human body can metabolize estrogen through several pathways, some of which can produce potentially harmful estrogen metabolites that are associated with health conditions such as hormone-related cancers. DIM has been shown to shift the metabolism of estrogen towards the production of more beneficial metabolites, thus reducing the production of harmful ones.
- Aromatase Inhibition: Testosterone can be converted into estrogen through an enzyme called aromatase. DIM acts as a natural aromatase inhibitor, which means it can reduce the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. By doing this, it helps maintain a more balanced level of male and female hormones in the body.
- Protection against Xenoestrogens: We’re constantly exposed to xenoestrogens, which are chemicals in our environment that mimic the action of estrogens in the body. These can disrupt the hormonal balance and have negative health implications. DIM has been suggested to help the body detoxify and reduce the impact of these xenoestrogens.
- Prostate Health: DIM has been studied for its role in supporting prostate health as well, by reducing dihydrotestosterone binding to androgen receptors.
